High Rock Farm was built in 1807 by Senator John McCain’s fourth great-grandfather. This federalist style home features many large rooms including eight fireplaces, antique furniture, and beautiful landscape. High Rock Farm is under Preservation North Carolina and maintains many original aspects of the home. The farm house sits off High Rock Road and was used as a stage coach stay in the 1800’s. The house also had a tavern and post office at one time. This beautiful home is currently owned by Richard Teague who planted his first chestnut tree in 1991. High Rock Farm is the largest working and producing chestnut orchard in the mid-Atlantic. With over five hundred  chestnut trees and four hundred pecan trees, the view is amazing! Today, High Rock Farm is an active participant in the community. High Rock is a beautiful place to host your next wedding, event, or take engagement pictures. Guided house tours are available year round by appointment, $5.00 a person and military personal free with ID.
